Press Release – February 22, 2018
Carilion Children’s Hospital patients can now look forward to visits from some of the Mill Mountain Zoo’s friendliest critters. Every month, our animal ambassadors will participate in educational outreach visits, offering a break for patients and their families during their hospital stay.
In addition, the Zoo will be donating family passes to the patients and their families. It is our fervent hope that we can return something back to the community and support Carilion Children’s Hospital.
“We are so appreciative of the Mill Mountain Zoo and the time they are taking to spend with us,” said Sarah Kress, lead child life specialist for Carilion Children’s Hospital. “These visits will definitely be a highlight for our patients during what can be a difficult time for them and their family.”
The next visit to Carilion Children’s Hospital will be on Friday, February 23 at 11:00 am.
We would also like to remind the public that we are open during the winter Thursday – Sunday, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, (gates close at 4:00 pm). As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization we depend on the community’s support to operate and need your help especially during the winter months.
