How do I get to the Zoo?
Mill Mountain Zoo is located in the heart of the City of Roanoke, on top of Mill Mountain. It is easily accessible from I-81/581, downtown Roanoke, and the Blue Ridge Parkway and shares the mountain top with the famous Roanoke Star and the Mill Mountain Garden Club’s Wildflower Garden.
GPS
For GPS search for Mill Mountain Park, which we share our parking lot with; we are located off of the Mill Mountain Spur. Please DO NOT use the 2404 Prospect Road address as this does not take you to the Zoo.
Are there parking fees?
There are no fees to park, however the parking lot that Mill Mountain Zoo shares with the Discovery Center and Mill Mountain Park has limited parking, and spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. If the parking lot is full, there is extra parking at the Star and down by the Fishburne monument. Also be aware that the walk from the parking lot to the zoo will take you about 5 minutes.
Do you allow outside beverages and food?
Yes, but please no beverages with straws, as they are a choking hazard for the animals.
Do you allow pets?
No. Due to the zoo being regulated by the USDA, pets are not allowed on Zoo grounds. Properly registered ADA Service Animals (NOT Emotional Support Animals) are allowed on Zoo grounds with proper identification.
Playground
The zoo has 2 small playgrounds. There is a small playground for young children in front of Bali's Bistro and a small playground for older children next to the Reptile House.
Do you rent strollers?
No
Do you have electric wheelchairs available?
We do have electric scooters that are available for check-out. We also have manual wheelchairs, if preferred.
Do you have public feedings and keeper chats?
Yes, but the schedule changes daily. Check with Guest Services when arriving to find out what will be happening during your visit.
Can you buy tickets online?
Yes. To purchase tickets online, please visit http://booking.mmzoo.org/generaladmission.aspx
Are there public feed stations?
Yes, you can feed the goats and pigs through shoots on their enclosure. You can buy the feed at the front desk at the time of admission.
