Mill Mountain Zoo’s Sloth Encounter offers guests an unforgettable, behind-the-scenes experience with one of our most beloved residents.
During your encounter, you’ll step inside the sloth’s habitat alongside a zookeeper to:
- Learn all about sloth behavior, diet, and conservation
- Watch a training or feeding session up close
- Ask questions directly to the animal care team who know our sloth best
- (And if the sloth chooses!) Get a rare chance for a close-up photo opportunity

This one-of-a-kind experience is both educational and heartwarming—perfect for animal lovers of all ages!

Availability: Offered select days and times by reservation only
‍Duration: Approximately 20–30 minutes
‍Group Size: Limited to ensure a personalized experience
‍Ages: Recommended for ages 10 and up (younger guests must be accompanied by an adult)

👉 Zoo admission is not included with your encounter and must be purchased separately—either in advance after your encounter confirmation or at the gate on the day of your visit.

All proceeds from Sloth Encounters directly support the Zoo’s Animal Care & Conservation Fund, helping provide specialized care, nutrition, and enrichment for all our animals.

- Advance reservations are required; same-day bookings cannot be accommodated.
- Encounters are nonrefundable but may be rescheduled due to animal needs, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances.
