Mill Mountain Zoo celebrates the opening of its new Raccoon Exhibit

The Mill Mountain Zoo is pleased to announce the opening of our new Raccoon Exhibit. The first of two Raccoons, “Katia” is now on display. She came to us from a local wildlife rehabilitator with a hip injury. She has since completely recovered and recently left our quarantine facility for her new home.

She will be joined in the near future by a male Raccoon from one our local Wildlife Rehabilitators.  This exhibit is one of the first in a new series as our facility implements our 180 approach and begins work on Virginia Wild; a series of exhibits that will present animals that are native to the Appalachian Mountains and will help us with our regional conservation education programs.
